About the Charities File
Welcome to The Charities File, a joint project of the Carleton Centre for Community Innovation and the Community Sector Council Newfoundland and Labrador. We are funded by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) to help enhance the awareness and capacity of Canadian charities to comply with their obligations under the Income Tax Act.
Charities in Canada are trusted by the public and governments to conduct their business responsibly. Each charity is required to file an annual Registered Charity Information Return (form T3010). Yet, each year a number of charities are either not filing their returns, filing them late, or filing with incomplete or inaccurate information, sometimes resulting in the loss of their charitable status. We provide training and resources to enhance knowledge among sector leaders, volunteers, practitioners, managers, staff and allied professionals, helping you to meet the current requirements for filing and general compliance.
